How can I get my child to do his work? It’s a struggle everyday.

Breaking down a task or assignment into smaller pieces or “chunks” can make work that seems overwhelming doable. Review the assignment, divide it into parts and have your child do one part at a time. After one part or “chunk” is complete then have the student take a break. Something preferred like 10 minutes of video time, a snack or a 10 minute bike ride. When the preferred time is over then complete the 2nd part of the assignment. Continue to “chunk” the work inserting small increments of preferred activities in between those tough assignments.
