Conversation Starters

Working at the Child Connection Center (CCC), we have the opportunity to bond with kids every day in the classroom. Spending time and establishing rapport with children is the key to building healthy, trustworthy relationships. When we interact with the students, whether it is individually, in small groups, or in a whole classroom setting, we utilize communication to provide guidance, express feelings, and show understanding.

Believe it or not, children and teens love to talk. Sometimes we need some direction as to where to meet the kids where they are and how to begin a conversation. Other times, we just want to get to know children on a deeper level. Below are conversation starters, which we use at the CCC. Now that we are all home, it a great idea to take the time and converse with your children. These conversations can be fun and carefree or deep and meaningful. Use the following examples or think of some of your own as a family!
