Bedtime During Quarantine
More than ever, I am hearing comments regarding sleep both from children and parents alike. Children are finding it more challenging than ever to stick to bedtime routines, fall asleep and stay asleep. In many conversations, the topic has come up about school at home, warmer weather, and feelings of summertime bliss right around the corner; all of which are making it more challenging to treat every day like a “typical day from the past.”
However, sleep struggles are not isolated to the many families that I have spoken to throughout this time. Through my own research, I learned that sleep clinics and pediatricians are seeing widespread and increased sleep disturbances. Research by Craig Canapari, M.D., identifies and troubleshoots many of these sleep challenges in this NY Times Article.
Schedules are changing, and sometimes that can be ok. However, when problems arise in everyday life, it might be worth looking into some extra help.
