The Coronavirus has created a sense of uncertainty for children and adults alike. We are staying home from work, our children are staying home from school, and none of us are able to do the things that we normally do. As confusing as this is, it is additionally confusing for children on the Autism spectrum, as well as for young children who do not have a firm grasp on how germs and viruses can affect us all if we do not engage in social distancing. Changes in routine can cause anxiety and stress that may be partially alleviated with a fuller understanding of what the Coronavirus is and the reasons that we are all practicing social distancing.
